In this post I will record the training I do for conquering my fear of height during bouldering/climbing.
Remember the "soft gaze" of Alex Honnold, mentioned in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phpPV5KnHvg
Methodology:
First learn how to fall from the wall. Climb not that high, and then fall on the mat. On the fall lean backwards are roll back. Train this while falling from a low enough height, where you don't feel fear.
As you get comfortable with the true technique of falling, increase the falling height. Climb as high as you start to get nervous. And fall from there. Repeat this until you don't feel any fear anymore.
Incrementally go higher and fall from there. Keep falling from the same height until you are comfortable enough. And then increase the height.
--------
18.10.2020 - I did a threshold training, and after the end of each set I tried to fell down in the correct way. Also sometimes I climbed higher than my comfort height. But I didn't do any proper training session for this.
--------
22.10.2020 - Before warming up for my bouldering session I did around 6, 7 fall training. Climbing as high as if I climb a bit higher I would feel scared, and then jumping from there with the correct technique. During my bouldering session I could feel I can handle my fear of heights better than last week.
